UGH. Classes are so dull. I'm here in Care of Magical Creatures (it's awful without you, darling, really) learning about Puffskeins. I mean, really? In a seventh year course? And can you please explain to me how in the world this large oaf got a teaching position here? Most of the professors are first-rate, right up there with the Beauxbatons lot, but this one is rather a joke. He's not a giant, is he?

I need something to perk me up after this. Have any ideas?

By the way, mio cuore, it was the best New Year's I've ever spent.

Amore, I wanted you to see what I'll be wearing to the Yule Ball so that you can match me, so I've had the company send me an image. I hope I've charmed it correctly so that you can see it. Let me know what you think Signore Montague will think of it, will you?

Now that it appears this Yule Ball has consumed everyone's thoughts, I don't suppose anyone can tell me what a ball at Hogwarts is like? How it compares, for example, to those lovely boring formal functions my mother drags me to? Not that I haven't found boys things to entertain me at those things, I'm just curious if this will be worth my time. Or if someone is willing to make it worth my time.

Also, I am beyond uninterested in my schoolwork any longer. Perhaps I am lazy at heart, or perhaps I simply feel my time is better spent enjoying the Hogwarts grounds. Either way, I've concluded that grades are no longer important.

Does anyone else miss television at this time of the year? Not that I'm one for lounging about, but there's something about the extreme cold December seems to bring up here that makes me pine for those old, horrible classic Christmas movies. I particularly want to see "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." Oh well, I suppose none of that for me this year.

I think I'd better go find some hot tea before I develop frostbite. This castle is so cold.

On a side note, my birthday was yesterday. I'm 18 now.
